Linens 'n Things
has swing rods for French doors or windows. You could search for these in antique stores, but they almost never
come complete with their hardware or long enough. They also have a full line of beautiful selection of curtain
and drapery rods. And, they're having a clearance sale and free shipping is available.
Sears ShowPlace
has solid brass stair rods (complete with mounting hardware). These are very hard to find but a necessary
finishing touch in the Victorian home.
Clawfoot Supply has a nice selection of clawfoot tubs. More important to some of you, they offer supplies for the clawfoot bathtub - just about anything you
could think of or want. You don't have to pass up any great old tub because it is not complete or toss the incomplete tub your grand old Victorian came with. Or you could get the authentic look in every part of the bathroom (even water
feeds, shut-off valves, diverter valves, and drains) with brand new reproductions that are nice enough to leave showing. They also carry faucets (for tub, shower, sink and kitchen), shower kits for clawfoot tubs, shower
accessories, and those great-looking holders for soap, cup and sponge (over the side, wall mounted, or mounted on the riser).
HomeClick is the first
to offer a whirlpool clawfoot bathtub, a wood/porcelain throne toilet, and a copper slipper tub! Their selection of "antique" and "Victorian" sink vanities is outrageous - with
gorgeous sink/counters atop legs of porcelain, wood or wrought iron - even in Queen Anne style. They also offer the largest selection of specialty shower heads we've seen, including 6-head and 8-head showers that
must make you feel like you are in a tropical rainstorm! Homeclick also offers antique style ranges and refrigerators (as well as retro style for the not so victorian), and a selection of copper sinks and vessels. All orders over $199 receive Free Shipping, including the tubs.
Shop AJ Madison, Your Appliance Authority!
They have a full line of beautiful applicances. But, our favorite is the Heartland line, which consists of antique style stoves, cooktops, refrigerators, dishwashers, and wall ovens. These come in your choice of stainless steel, almond, black, blue, green, red, or white. They will also offer
free shipping on all orders over $1999
.
Plumbing Express
has a large selection of bathroom and kitchen fixtures, including clawfoot
tubs and pedestal sinks. They even have a shell whirlpool tub, a sink shaped
like a flower, and faucets of swans or dolphins. Our favorite lines are:
Revival, Memoirs, Vintage, Antique, Georgian, Elizabethan, Fleur, Portrait and
Anatole - but check out all of their lines. Some of the styles might be called
Art Nouveau, and some might be called Art Deco, besides those in the Victorian
style. Their "Antique" faucet handles are too cool. And,
their color options are also online, including a match of our very own seafoam
green.
Arnold &
Oakley Architectural Ironmongery are "Suppliers of door and window
hardware. Specialists in period and traditional fixtures and fittings. Ideal
for renovation of old houses. Fast and reliable world-wide mail order
service." (We couldn't say it any better than they did.) Arnold &
Oakley have a large selection of very nice items in hand-forged iron, black
antique iron, flat black iron, chrome, brass, and Florentine bronze that you
probably could never find locally. And, where but Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire,
could you find authentic door pushers? Just a few of the other unusual items
(besides locks, handles, escutcheons and much more) include window stays, bell
pulls, door studs, rose head cut nails, and little grills for use with the
little "peephole" doors.
Ed Donaldson
Hardware Restorations specializes in restored antique hardware. Included antique hardware
are items such as rim locks (box locks), door knobs, door bells and knockers, cabinet hardware,
bronze and iron mortise locks, hinges and miscellaneous items that are used in restoring early
houses or in new construction.
Shop 4
Classics has wonderful bath hardware and accessories, door and cabinet
hardware, hooks, racks, stair hardware, and more. Their line of toilet paper
holders is the most extensive we've seen. And, the claw-foot tub faucets
(including hand-held) are terrific.
Paxton
Hardware, Ltd., has beautiful lamps and lamp fittings. Very affordable,
too.
Antique
Hardware and Home Store has just about everything (great faucets, hooks of
all kinds, tin ceilings - just to name a very few). One highlight is the collection of Retro cabinet knobs - the mint green ones would be a perfect match for depression glass dishware. New reproductions and some
real antiques, and some things that were never in a vintage home but are still
worth checking out.
Antique Bath And More
has wonderful antique and reproduction items. These include crystal, brass or
pewter cabinet knobs and pulls and door handles; claw-foot bathtubs in cast
iron or acrylic; pedestal sinks; weather vanes; pull-chain toilets; shower
rods and curtain rods for antique tubs, and oversized shower curtains to go
with them; bath accessories; and more. Prices are also listed, and their new
claw-foot tubs include free shipping.
Eugenia's
Antique Hardware - a million antique hardware items may not be an
exaggeration. These include: doorknobs and plates, furniture handles and
pulls, window handles, coat hooks, curtain tiebacks, bathroom accessories,
doorbells, doorknockers, and much more. On the plus side, the pages and photos
load very quickly and the pictures can all be enlarged to see detail. On the
down side, there is no way to get back home once you start going through their
online catalogue. There also seems to be no index or category page for quick
browsing. If you do find something you like, you may want to search ebay
before buying - we've seen many of these on ebay for 1/5 the price.
Bathroom Machineries has
items (new reproductions and authentic antiques) for just about everything in your Victorian home - ceramic
faucet handles; knobs, bumpers, caps and pulls for pull toilets; towel stands, and brass razor and shaving brush
holders; D, U, L and ring shower rods; shower conversion kits; glass pulls and knobs; pull toilets and tanks; faucets;
tubs in clawfoot and pedestal styles, sidefill tubs, tub foot kits, and refinished antique tubs; tub faucets, supplies and drains;
and so much more. Their antique items list is also quite extensive, and they can restore your own antique items.
